YOUR BESTIE IS PREGNANT.
THIS IS WHAT TO SAY
(AND NOT SAY)

27.06.17

So your bestie is pregnant? Congratulations! You are now both, absolutely and unarguably “grown-ups”. You know those days when you don’t want to adult? You no longer have a choice. Your best friend is a mum, which means you have just landed the most important role of your life.

Prepare to love a tiny person more than you love yourself. Prepare to feel every single up and down your bestie goes through, and most importantly, prepare to no longer care about your own outfit ensembles, instead you will want to spend all of your cash on the newest member to your tribe.

"We want to let you know that the next few months are going to be the happiest, scariest and most excited your bestie has ever felt."

We want to let you know that the next few months are going to be the happiest, scariest and most excited your bestie has ever felt. And as any best friend does, be ready to feel the exact same. Next to the baby daddy, you have the most important role in her life. And while dad will be there for the morning sickness and the late night cravings, she is going to need you.

When she is freaking out that she doesn’t know how to be a mum, it will be your job to remind her of the times she has coaxed you through every break up and work problem ever. Because when it comes down to it, that is what being a mum is. When she is freaking out because she ordered a forest green onesie, and what has been delivered is ‘emerald green’ (which, by the way, would never happen here at Keeks), you need to bring her back to reality.

So while you navigate the pregnancy world together (and trust us when we say this can be a scary place) try to remember to not share that story of such-and-such who had a 45 hour labour, or your friend’s friend who thought she was having one baby… but surprise… Identical twins! As a former pregnant women, trust me when I say she just doesn’t need to hear this.

What you should say however is: we love you, we are here for you, and god pregnancy looks good on you!
